Scan

When you have finished the recording in WaveCorrector you can scan the recording for tracks and clicks and pops. Click on the 'Scan Now' button. Alternatively, opening a file will start the detection process. The main settings window with the default settings for Auto-Scan (on the toolbar choose 'Waveform > AutoScan Options') is shown below.

The click Threshold is how active the click detector will be. A setting of 1 or 2 is okay for relatively clean records and will interfere with the file the least. Higher settings will find more clicks.

The inter-track silence threshold is a feature I do not use. I prefer to keep the recording in 'one piece' and split it using Nero (explained later). You can use feature to automatically split the recording into tracks, but I would advise you to choose the 'Synchronise Track Boundaries' as well, or you can sometimes lose short quiet sections the software thinks is the inter-track silence.

The click detect mode is probably okay as 'Per Channel' unless you plan to create a mono file from a mono recording, when differential may be better.

WaveCorrector is non-destructive to the original file. The cleaned file is given a new name, so you can safely try different settings to see which is the best for your recording. To rescan a recording choose 'rescan' from the Waveform menu on the toolbar.

Using the automatic settings as shown will probably give satisfactory results for most recordings. You can compare the before and after. The button on the left shown below will play the original file, the one on the right will play the corrected version. Click on your choice and then double click in a section of the file in the lower window to hear that section.
